This Privacy Policy describes how TotumSnap ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Patrick Colligan, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use TotumSnap ("Service").

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information — email address and password when you sign up via email, or name and email when you sign up with Google or GitHub through Clerk.
• Payment information — billing details are collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or payment credentials on our servers.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage data — which URLs you crawl, how many captures you run, and your plan tier.
• Job records — crawl jobs, capture jobs, and ZIP file references associated with your account.
• Log data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps for security and debugging purposes.

Information from third parties

• Clerk — provides authentication. When you sign in with Google or GitHub, Clerk receives your profile data from those providers and passes your email and user ID to us.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Run website crawls and screenshot captures on your behalf
• Process payments and enforce plan limits
• Send transactional emails (e.g., capture complete notifications)
• Monitor and improve service performance
• Respond to support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Website Crawling and Screenshots

When you submit a URL, TotumSnap crawls that website using a headless browser and captures screenshots of the pages you select. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to crawl and screenshot any website you submit. We do not review or moderate the content of captured screenshots.

Screenshot ZIP files are stored temporarily on our servers. Free plan ZIPs are available for 24 hours after capture. Pro and Agency plan ZIPs are stored indefinitely until you delete them or close your account.

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the following service providers, strictly to operate the Service:

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies.

5. Data Retention

• Account data — retained as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account closure.
• Crawl and capture job records — retained for the duration of your account.
• ZIP files — Free plan: 24 hours. Pro/Agency: indefinitely until deleted or account closed.
• Payment records — retained as required by law (typically 7 years).

6. Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure credential storage via Clerk, and access controls on our database. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data
• Opt out of non-essential communications

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (via Clerk) and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Children

TotumSnap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
